Een mahoniehouten pillenplank van klein formaat, als voorheen in een apotheek gebruikt om pilletjes te draaien. Afmeting 24,1 x 11,6 cm, lengte schuifplankje 29 cm. Datering: eind 19e eeuw of begin 20e eeuw. Prijs € 70.-

Victorian mahogany pill roller of unusual small size, designed to produce individual pills. The pharmacist would crush dry ingredients together with syrup to form a paste. The flat side of the pill roller’s paddle was used to roll the paste out into a long tube on the flat wooden part, like a rolling pin smoothing dough. The tube of paste was then rolled between the grooved sides of the surface and paddle, separating it into equal spherical pills.
