A blue and white bowl-shaped gravy jug, painted with a scholar on a rocky bank in a mountainous river landscape with a two-storey pavilion and a retreat amongst trees, and with a pagoda on a distant island below a border of trellis pattern, the handle with a formal floral spray at right angles to the spout, c. 1750. Originating from the Nanking Cargo, salvaged by Captain Michael Hatcher and auctioned at Christies Amsterdam, 1986. (sold)
